Struggling....

So far I have deleted 5 drafts just to be able to write something worthy of posting. But I can not seem to be able to zero in on the topic that I would want to write about. I know it happens to all the bloggers but I never thought it would happen to me this early as I had recently resolved to myself that I will be posting at least 2 posts every week. Now it seems like wishful thinking.

I do have many many pictures to share of my art, the food I have cooked and the outfits I have worn but I do not want to blog only the photos. I want to be able to talk and share my views, thoughts and opinions.

Because of my multiple interests, I have been reading various categories of blogs namely: Fashion, Design, Lifestyle , Food , Fiction, Make up, Photography etc etc. Some of the bloggers stick only to the domain that their blog is known for while some share a glimpse of their personal lives as well and that is what makes me interested in their blogs.

I  like to know the person behind all the creative genius displayed on the blogs. I especially admire bloggers who are able to express their daily conversations in such humorous way. It makes me feel they are real and that there is so much similarity in the way we think, we live, we behave.

I would want to offer my readers a balance of: My Interests via photos and My Thoughts via words and putting both these aspects together seems like a struggle to me, at least for the time being. I am sure I will get over this phase...

By the way Sumitra ( thanks for your sweet comment :)) after seeing my last post asked, if I had ever thought of  having 3 different blogs for my 3 varied interests of Food, Fashion and Art. It would be good in a way that the readers won't be confused and will be able to choose what to read. But it would be difficult for me to manage 3 blogs simultaneously. Generating content for each of them on a regular basis would be quite a task considering the fact that significant amount of my time goes into designing and painting. Also putting my thoughts together will be pretty challenging :) :)

I do not want blogging to become a task that I have to do, rather I would like it to be a platform for showing what I Am :) :)

What do you guys have to think about it???
1 blog or 3 different blogs?????

P.S: I wish blogger had the option of replying to each comment like wordpress has.
I would really want to answer the questions asked and comments made but I am too lazy to go back and forth to see who has written what and then draft a reply :(

  1. 1 blog is fine - saves you having to keep track of 3 different blogs! :)

And remember, it's YOUR blog. You can share the pictures today and then if you think of lots to write, make that a post tomorrow. There are no rules and no expectations, just be yourself <3

  2. Ok this is weird. You wont believe it but i went through this exact same phase when I first started style blogging I dint know how to bridge the gap between my 'personal ramblings' and 'personal style'. My old readers who came for words dint understand this sudden intrusion of fashion and my new readers thought it was 'just another fashion blog' and I dint want that at all! When I posted pictures I felt bad for not writing much and when I wrote something, I wanted to post pictures! A lot of people suggested that i should maintain two separate blogs… but in the end I dint want to do that. First of all like you said, no time to maintain so many. But mainly because this is who I am! Silly ramblings + fashion + art + updates from my life + books + travel - its a complete package. It took a while to get over it, to find a balance but I think I finally did it. At least I am satisfied with my blog now!
I think you should stick to this one blog :)

  3. Purvi, I like to read and see the pictures and your creative designs as they are! Love these for their originality! We all go through the same phase of a blogger's block:)

  4. I maintain two different blogs under the same user name. Personally, I prefer to keep bounded LOC...but, I guess it's easier if you keep all varied interests under one blog...easier to track and manage...

  5. Purvi, hi! first time here and I can tell your blog will be an interesting one given your varied interests - I have a similar struggle too with my literary and cooking interests, my penchant for a rant every once in a while - I have not yet published my poetry or musings on a blog but share some of it with family - here is my recommendation - Until such time you zero in on what your most favorite topic is, keep writing about whatever comes into your mind - the idea is to keep the creative juices flowing. So bon chance and you have a new follower in me - hopefully you will visit my food blog and do me the honor of joining it :) bon chance - priya

  7. I would always prefer ONE blog, as it will get too hard for me to take care of three and I am sure not every of ur reader will visit all three..

One is easier to maintain plus with all these posts it will have all the varieties, whats the harm in that ..

    You been Tagged :)

  9. One blog is the way to go. Single focus blogs can get too boring and well, just too repetitive. It's nice to read blogs that have a bit of variety in terms of content. Your interests, art, food, photos etc will all find a place right here....it's your blog, do it for yourself and not your readers. They'll come anyway :-)

    PS: congrats on your win!!

  11. Hi dear, I think that you've really brought a lot of issues we all think about to light in this post. I thank you for that :)
I agree with you on everything, especially when you wrote that you also would like to share your thoughts and opinions, and not only photos. I value your blog for that reason. I think one blog is easier to manage. Maybe split it into one topic per week? That way you will get one post a week guaranteed.

  12. i will second chandana...
ur blog is all about u so u with all ur interests, likes, dislikes, passion, art, style into a single blog will definitely be a great package for us...

  13. I think you better concern to 1 blog,it's enough. Keep blogging :)

  14. From my point of view i would suggest you to go for a single blog .. categorize your post under different menu that make simple !!

  15. For the sake of your sanity, I suggest sticking with one blog! Blogging shouldn't be time-consuming or overwhelming and trying to maintain 3 blogs simultaneously, I imagine would be both of those! Also I like the variety of topics u bring to the table :)

  16. One blog, definitely! I love your way to share your art, your recipes and your writing, so I´d say, keep up the great work, you have nothing to worry about :)

  17. I know I'm new here but I'd like to say, one blog is the best option sweetie :)
And your name is beautiful :)

  18. A blog is about you life and interests, no matter what they are. A blog talks about you, so if you have different interests they should be expressed in one blog. Simple as this, your blogs says who you are or at least what you want to communicate about your self to your readers! Stick to one blog!

  19. Hi there. It is my first visit to your blog and I really like it. The most interesting thing is you cover varied topics which keeps it interesting. I love the mix of fashion, art and food. Stick with one blog, you cater to a larger audience this way <3

  20. Hey Purvi, thanks for mentioning me and also considering my suggestion. That's so sweet of you. :)

I had read a lot on blogging tips when I was starting my baking blog, and most of the top bloggers had suggested one blog for each niche, so just remembered that when I saw your last post. But of course, you're right too, it's too time consuming and would feel like a job rather than a passion to maintain so many.

I guess blogging is rough on the edges first and the more we do it, making a few mistakes along the way, we evolve into something that suits our personality best. Like Chandana said, eventually we will find our balance :)

  21. Oh, btw, there is a hack that allows you to reply to individual comments. Try this:

  22. Well, like u said 3 blogs wud be gr8 but managing them can be an issue! So i wud rather say have one blog and make sure that u post regularly. :)

  23. I like that your blog has the mix of interests! Just keep one blog and post whatever you are thinking about..food, art, fashion...Good luck!

  24. I know exactly how you feel Purvi! Even though I mostly only post outfit pictures, I'm also struggling with how to show visitors to the blog other sides of my personality, my artwork, home design, and even cooking attempts. I'll keep checking your blog to see how you make out:)

  25. I have seen people trying to manage 3 blogs and then messing it all up. This is ur space...for you to write or post pictures. Do as you like!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. you can always just keep it 1 blog but add a menu to your blog on the 3 different things you do!

  27. I think it's fine to do one blog with different topics/interests. It's your blog so make it what you want. You can always do weekly features like fashion friday or recipe tuesday. Or you can make a chictopia/lookbook account for a fashion log. And I think that you can use Disqus for the personal commenting but I haven't tried it. Hope that helps!

  28. Hi Purvi, thanks for your sweet comments today. Hope you had a good Monday!

  31. 3 blogs is so very difficult to manage... I had it once .. for thoughts, fashion and tips and food.. But I tell you It was so tough that I gave up that blogger spot itself started a new one... May be you can add tabs on ur blog itself .. It would be fun.. It ll be in a same blog itself but the sections differ.. And you could easily achieve ur resolution also.. What say??

    ReplyDelete
  32. 1 blog is enough! You're doing an awesome job of showcasing all your talents. Like Dimple said, maybe make different tabs. And goodness, I've been suffering from writer's block lately too. I just have no time and inclination to write :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really don’t think so you need to have three different blogs. You should do what defines you. Rather use labels on one blog only.

    Love

  34. Thought of that myself .. but sticking to one .. tabs and labels could be a good way of categorizing them :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I say stick to one for now, otherwise as you say, it will become a task and you will start to resent it! Variety is more interesting anyway :) x

  36. I think one blog! I love reading a blog thta has a bit of everything..it makes people more interested and keeps them coming for more because they don't know what's in store on the next post :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can relate to what you said about struggling with what to post, what not to post, whether its interesting enough and so on and so forth! And i completely agree with u and majority of people here, one blog is the way to go. We women have 10 other roles to play and with that maintain 3 blogs would be a task.... ;)
P.s. I noticed, we are neighbours! I stay in Dubai :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's up to you, if you can maintain 3 blogs, definitely do it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. It ok for us bloggers to get the writer's block sometimes...I have a lot of interests too and I if I had a blog for everything I like I'll have to end up with 30 blogs :D...blogging should be fun not a task, so I maintain everything in one blog.
